IE7 Creates shortcut on Desktop
Internet Explorer 7 Creates a shortcut on the users desktop when Double-Clicked, instead of opening the application as expected.
Double-Clicking the IE7 icon again creates another shortcut, and so on.

There are two possible fixes for this issue:
1. Try renaming or deleting verclsid.exe in windows\system32 and windows\prefetch (.pf)
2. Locate the LegacyDisable subkey under the following two keys in the Registry:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D}\Shellex]
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Computer_User_Name\{871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D}\shell\OpenHome
If present, Delete the LegacyDisable subkey.
Restart the system and test. Check for new MS updates and download if required.
